How commissions work

A reliable programme separates what you provide, what the project record should contain, the decision being made and the dependencies that affect timing.
This is a content and control model, not an approved service promise. Owners, documents, payment stages and timing language still require operational and legal sign-off.

Stage by stage

A controlled route from brief to handover

The sequence is designed to make each decision inspectable. A real service release must replace every operational unknown with an approved owner, document and contract basis.

    Enquiry and brief

    Proposed control
    You provide
    The intended setting, approximate scale, authorised references, project stage and what is known so far.
    Project record should provide
    A concise brief, the open questions and an initial view of whether the enquiry fits the workshop scope.
    Decision or approval
    Whether there is enough information to begin feasibility review.
    Timing basis
    No production or delivery period starts at enquiry; the next information required is identified first.
  2. 02

    Feasibility and material discussion

    Proposed control
    You provide
    Known site conditions, access, preferred material and any design or technical constraints.
    Project record should provide
    A proposed route covering scale, stone, method, piece division, responsibilities, exclusions and information still required.
    Decision or approval
    Whether a workable design and supply boundary can be proposed.
    Timing basis
    Review time depends on the completeness of the brief, material checks and any specialist input.
  3. 03

    Quotation and programme

    Proposed control
    You provide
    Purchasing party, project stage, required-on-site date and commercial questions.
    Project record should provide
    An itemised proposal for the agreed design work, material, making, approvals, packing and delivery services.
    Decision or approval
    Whether the proposed scope, exclusions, payment stages and terms are acceptable.
    Timing basis
    Production, freight, customs and final-mile assumptions are stated separately for the project.
  4. 04

    Design, stone and finish approval

    Proposed control
    You provide
    Consolidated aesthetic and technical comments from authorised decision-makers.
    Project record should provide
    The versioned drawing, visual, sample, block photography or maquette included in the agreed scope, plus a decision record.
    Decision or approval
    Approve the identified version or request recorded changes.
    Timing basis
    The quotation states which approvals are required and which approval event releases production.
  5. 05

    Making and milestone records

    Proposed control
    You provide
    Timely responses to material, design or exception decisions raised during making.
    Project record should provide
    CNC and hand-work stages described for the piece, with progress evidence at the milestones listed in the quotation.
    Decision or approval
    Resolve recorded exceptions or changes without treating aesthetic approval as a transfer of technical responsibility.
    Timing basis
    Making starts from the event defined in the agreed terms, subject to material and capacity confirmation.
  6. 06

    Pre-dispatch inspection

    Proposed control
    You provide
    The authorised reviewer and any project-specific inspection requirements.
    Project record should provide
    Dimension, finish and condition evidence, exceptions, packing information and document versions.
    Decision or approval
    Resolve recorded exceptions and reach the dispatch milestone defined in the agreed terms.
    Timing basis
    Inspection, any agreed remedial work and freight departure are separate programme events.
  7. 07

    Freight and UK handover

    Proposed control
    You provide
    Delivery address, access, unloading plan and local project contacts.
    Project record should provide
    Agreed route, named place, importer, duties and taxes, unloading and installation boundaries.
    Decision or approval
    Confirm that the route and site are ready for the planned handover.
    Timing basis
    Freight, customs clearance and final-mile delivery remain separate estimates affected by the agreed route and site access.

No fixed price, starting figure or typical range is shown. Finance has not approved a representative basis, and delivery, import and installation scope can materially change the total.

Responsibility boundary

Make the interfaces visible before commitment

Quotation, contract and project records must identify who is responsible. A marketing phrase such as “installation support” cannot replace that allocation.
